DAY TRIP TO BLAUSEE

There is the lake in the canton Bern, not far away from Interlaken, where the water is so clean, you can see every single stone on the ground. It's called -Blausee (Blue lake)

And it had been on my list for way too long. If I would have decide to go there the first time I saw the picture of it on Instagram, I would have been there now twice already.

I always used the same it's-too-far-away-excuse, until one day I was by chance, only an hour of driving away ( I went to Aareschlucht) and I said to myself: ''Now or never''.

Blausee is located in the middle of a forest (a natural park) in Kandersteg. Eventho the lake is only around 100m in length and 70m in width, it is still the most popular mountain lake in Switzerland. Around the lake you can find picnic spots, playgrounds, a restaurant, walking paths and of course many spots for photography as well. The cleanness of the lake makes it an ideal source for rainbows and salmon trout. Tho fishing is forbidden by the lake and that's why the only chance for that is a fishing event in October.

When heading off from Zürich it doesn't make a big difference If you'll head to the lake with a car or the public transportation - both ways it takes approximately a bit more than 2 hours to get there. In front of the entrance you will find a big parking lot. I'm not sure how much I paid for the parking, but under the link you'll find the entrance prices and all the Covid informations. https://www.blausee.ch/en/naturpark/eintrittspreise/

Now, follow me to the lake

Yes, I know. I was amazed too. Eventho I've gotten used to it, that the water is clear everywhere in Switzerland, I was still amazed how clear this lake is.

Did you see a statue in the lake on one of my pictures? It's there because of a legend about a girl who died heartbroken .Why, you may ask? You can read the whole story on the bridge by the lake. There is also an option to take a ride with glass bottomed boats, with them you can row around the lake.

I spend a good two hours by the lake, had a coffee, took a lot of pictures with my digital and polaroid camera. In the late afternoon I decided to head back to Zürich.

I highly recommend this place. It is beautiful 24/7. These pictures were taken in the beginning of September, when the leaves on the trees were still pretty much green.

With love from Switzerland
