Last year was - different than any other before. After we finally got out from lockdown and we were able to go somewhere without masks, the first thing me and my friends did was - hiking. We wanted to go somewhere new, somewhere we haven't been before. Kanton Schwyz offers so many beautiful hiking paths and Fronalpenstock - Klingenstock is just one of many.

It was beautiful Sunday 24th of May 2020. First coffee and then hop on the train to Zug where I met with my friends. From there we continue the trip with the bus to Stoosbahn (takes about 1h 20min from Zürich) and from there on with a steep cable car all the way up to Stoos.

We decide to hike up first to Fronalpstock and from there to Klingenstock, of course one can walk it the other way around too. It was a bit cloudy and still very cold in the morning, but we expect it, since we were at 1.921 meters above the see level.

Here are some pictures from the hike to Fronalpstock.

Once we reached the top the view was just amazing. Perfect for a lunchbreak.

Soon after we continued the hike to Klingenstock. We started to descend steeply down and then up again. If you are following me on Instagram, you probably saw that I mentioned several times - Wear proper hiking shoes! This hike is moderate, it contains lots of stairs and at some point the path is narrow and rocky. Safety first!

Once we reached the top of the hill it was so amazing to see all the mountains with the snow around us.

After 2h of hiking up and down we reached Klingenstock and from there on we had another hour to walk back to Stoss. If we count the hiking and the pauses between all together, the whole hike took about 4h and 30min.

See you at the next post!
