NIEDERBAUEN KULM - Hike ''above the clouds''

It was middle of September 2020. On a Friday evening I sent a message to my friend saying: ''Hey I wanna go hiking somewhere, where I can see Vierwaldstättersee from above'' and he just replied: ''Oh then you need to go to Niederbauen, you're gonna love it''.

The next day I was awake before 6am, took my coffee, hiking stuff, camera with me and drove off to Emmetten in canton Nidwalden. There I took the cable car at Niederbauenbahn https://www.niederbauen.ch/fahrplan . It was only about an 1h drive, so I arrived there so early that only me and the vegetables for the restaurant on the top were inside the cable car. Once I reached the top the view was just amazing. The sun was rising, hills were golden from the sunlight and the valleys under were covered with fog. It looked like we were above the clouds - like in heaven.

There are many hiking options from easy, family hiking trails to advanced ones for more hiking enthusiasts. I decided to have more of a ''photography day'' and just went up to Niederbauen Kulm, which is more of a easy, family hike.

I had a 2.5h hike in front of me. So let's go!

I found all the hiking informations here: https://swissfamilyfun.com/niederbauen-kulm/ There was not so many other hikers (which was not surprising: it was 10am when I was on the top) so I just enjoyed the sun and beautiful nature around me.

Here's my favorite picture from the top of Niederbauen Kulm. While I was hiking to the top I didn't even know where the lake was or where all the villages were.

And these pictures are 2h later. To be honest I did hope to see the lake and villages too, but I always say that that's the sign for me to go back.
